Friday, February 21st

Monday Feb 24th Fun lunch (Subway)
Tuesday Feb 25th 100th day class celebration
Wednesday Feb 26th Pink shirt day, everyone is encouraged to wear something pink 

Weekly learning  (Feb 3rd- Feb 7th)

- In math this week we focused on developing our skills to solve word problems, we will still continue to work on this throughout the rest of the year
- We started our second Social unit. This week we began to look at where Nunavut, Iqaluit is located and what the weather is like there and therefore what we would have to wear if we went on a trip there
- We began to explore buoyancy in science and what exactly buoyancy looks like with an orange experiment, ask your children what this was
- Our focus for our writing this week has been around love and kindness. With wrapping up valentines themed things and beginning to explore kindness that goes along with pink shirt day which is next week on Wednesday
- We also got to meet our composer for the Opera this week and he played us some of the beautiful music he composed for our Opera
-We had our pink day assembly today please ask all about it

Looking forward in Grade 2

-Next week we will be celebrating 100th day on Wednesday please help your child with the tasks sent home for this, 100th day poster and 100th day outfit
-We will also be celebrating Pink shirt day next week, taking a stand against bullying and building on how to show kindness; please help your child with ensuring they wear something pink on Wedensday  if they have it
-In Math we will review some patterning and place values
-We will continue looking at Nunavut and their culture
- Science we will continue with buoyancy and figuring out how to make things float and sink
- For our writing we will work on non-fiction writing as well as cause and effect writing
